The technical detail — spans, heights, loads and certification.
Two product families, the panels we have run the numbers on, and everything an engineer needs before putting a stamp on anything — so it gets bid accurately instead of padded for risk. Everything here is preliminary design guidance: it describes what the system does, and every project still gets its own engineering.

An enclosure is a demising wall product plus a cap — which is why most of this page applies to both. Only the cap family and the sprinkler product are enclosure-only. If you're pricing rather than specifying, start at solutions instead.
PanelEase Horizontal — the Cap.
Long-span overhead panel runs that close the top of an enclosure or corridor. Clear spans to 35' on 35' × 5' hanger layouts, specified walkable or non-walkable, with Unistrut-compatible strut channel running top and bottom. See what each product does →
| Max panel span, self-supporting | 16' at 19 PSF (L/180) · 15 PSF at L/240 — 4" EPS |
|---|---|
| Max panel span, hung | Up to 35' |
| Hanger layout | 35' × 5' |
| Panel thickness | 4" – 8" |
| Walkability | Specified walkable or non-walkable per project |
| Strut channel | Unistrut-compatible, top and bottom |
| Point-load capacity | Up to 2,000 lb on strut channel with approved hardware — conditions |
| Service penetrations | Modular Mains carries hangers with zero cap penetrations; Direct Insert and Sprinkler are the sealed, purpose-built penetrations you use when a project actually needs one |
Span and walkability are interdependent and load-case specific. Confirm both against the project's engineering.

PanelEase Vertical — the Demising Wall.
Full-height dividing and enclosure demising walls. Every condition the demising wall runs into — the corner, the window, the electrical, the floor — is a named engineered part rather than something a carpenter works out on site. See what each product does →
| Max height | Up to 45', panel and deflection dependent — see the table |
|---|---|
| Typical demising wall | Up to 28' with standard construction |
| Panel thickness | 4" – 8" |
| Floor variation | Up to 1" absorbed via the deep floor track |
| Load-bearing | Available in EPS, up to 41' at L/240 — see the table |
| Electrical routing | Physical pathway via Power Post (PEA-V-PP) — a routing channel |
| Strut channel | Unistrut-compatible, top and bottom |
One worked count, so the percentage isn't the only thing on offer. A 40-ft demising wall at 12' high comes to 94 PanelEase parts against 312 in a conventional IMP build-up. Counts move with openings, corners and panel width — this is one representative condition, not a fixed ratio.

Maximum demising wall heights by panel and deflection criteria.
The core and thickness you choose sets your ceiling — not the extrusion kit. Each core reaches a different maximum at its stated deflection limit, which is why these are published by core and thickness rather than as a single number. Pick the height first, then the panel that reaches it. Figures below are the max height for a single panel run — no splice, no stacking, no added base or trim.
| Core | Thickness | Deflection | Max height (single panel run) |
|---|---|---|---|
| EPS | 8" | L/240 | 41' |
| EPS | 4" | L/240 | 28' |
| Core | Thickness | Deflection | Max height (single panel run) |
|---|---|---|---|
| PolyISO | 8" | L/120 | 45' |
| PolyISO | 4" | L/120 | 30' |
| EPS | 8" | L/180 | 41' |
| EPS | 4" | L/180 | 28' |
| Mineral Wool | 8" | L/180 | 40' |
| Mineral Wool | 4" | L/180 | 24' |
All figures are for a single, unspliced panel run — no stacking, no added base plate or trim. Load-bearing figures are published for EPS only, at L/240. Heights are maximums under the stated core, thickness, deflection limit and load case — not project values. EPS and Mineral Wool non-load-bearing figures are at L/180; PolyISO figures are at the looser L/120 limit, so none of these are directly comparable to each other. Wind, seismic, attachment condition and the host structure all move these numbers. Final design requires a licensed PE stamp in the project jurisdiction.

Engineered by core and thickness — and specifiable with equivalents.
| Panel type | Insulated metal panel (IMP) |
|---|---|
| Panel source | Engineered and published by core and thickness — span figures for each combination. Specifiable with equivalents meeting the thickness, facing gauge and core specification below. The height plate sets the thickness, so the system moves to another qualified panel if a line is discontinued. |
| Core options | EPS, PolyISO, Mineral Wool |
| Facers | 26-gauge steel minimum, all cores |
| Thickness | 4", 6" and 8" |
| Core density | EPS 0.90 PCF · PolyISO 2.35 PCF · Rockwool 8.5 PCF |
| Finish | Factory finished — no field taping, mudding or painting |

Structural attachment capacity.
Unistrut-compatible strut channel runs the full length of the system, top and bottom, in both families. Loads attach to the channel, not to the panel facer.
| Point-load capacity | Up to 2,000 lb |
|---|---|
| Attachment method | Unistrut-compatible strut channel with approved hardware |
| Penetration | None required — no leak point, no thermal break, no contamination path through the panel |
| Channel location | Top and bottom, full length, both families |
| Future loads | Capacity is built in — adding a load later doesn't mean upgrading the building structure |
The 2,000 lb figure is a point-load capacity on the channel using approved hardware. Load spacing, eccentricity and combined loading are project-specific and must be reviewed by the project engineer.

MEP hanging load capacity.
Allowable line load along the run, by hanger spacing, for sprinkler mains, conduit and duct hung off the grid.
| Hanger spacing | Single span | Continuous (3+ span) |
|---|---|---|
| 5 ft | 217–283 lb/ft | 354–364 lb/ft |
| 10 ft | 28–47 lb/ft | 89–116 lb/ft |
| 15 ft | 8–14 lb/ft | 40–52 lb/ft |
| 20 ft | 4–6 lb/ft | 22–23 lb/ft |
A continuous run carries roughly 4× a single span at 10 ft spacing. For scale, a water-filled 4" schedule-10 sprinkler main runs about 12 lb/ft.

PanelEase Sprinkler — capability.
The PanelEase Sprinkler™ (PEA-H-SP-SH/VF) has partnered with Victaulic™ to deliver integrated sprinkler applications. The system allows for installation of FM approved sprinkler mounting hardware prior to IMP assembly for safe and fast installation of sprinkler systems. The 80–90% fewer-penetrations figure describes the horizontal family as a whole — Modular Mains, Direct Insert and Sprinkler together — not the sprinkler product in isolation.
| Hardware | FM-approved Victaulic hardware |
|---|---|
| Partnership | Developed in partnership with Victaulic |
| Seal | Integral panel-penetration seal — part of the panel, not a field-applied patch |
| Configurations | Two: SH (sprinkler head) and FH (sprinkler + flex hose) |
FM approval refers to the Victaulic hardware. It is not a fire-resistance rating of the PanelEase assembly — see certification scope below.

Independent third-party structural validation
| Internal testing | Conducted on the system and its components |
|---|---|
| Third-party analysis | Independent structural engineering analysis of the horizontal extrusions — Strut Channel, Height Plate, Head Track, and Strut Channel Wall Adapter — each analyzed as a simply supported and multi-span aluminum beam (6061-T6) per the 2024 IBC and the 2020 Aluminum Design Manual |
| Engineering package | Structural package prepared for review and stamp by the project's licensed PE |
